Fall 2026 Move-Out Date

All Residence Halls (except apartment communities and Husky Village) close on Monday, December 21, 2026 at 12:00 Noon.

 

All residents (regardless of housing community type) who plan to stay on campus at any point between December 21, 2026 and January 16, 2027 must complete the Winter Recess Housing Application. More information about Winter Recess Housing can be found here: Winter Recess Housing Website.

 

Students who will be returning to their same room in the Spring 2027 semester do not need to move their belongings out of their campus housing assignment. We do advise that students bring valuable items home with them for the break period. Students are asked to defrost and unplug any mini fridges they have, unplug items and power strips, close and lock their windows and make sure their room door is locked when they leave. Make sure to keep track of your room key over break - you'll need it when you return for the Spring semester!

 

Students that are leaving campus housing at the end of the Fall semester or accepts a mid-year room change, will need to fully move out of their housing assignment (regardless of housing community type). In this case you need to:

  • Remove all personal belongings.
  • Return any University furniture to its proper and original location -- this includes re-assembling disassembled furniture. If any room furniture is missing, students will be charged for the replacement cost.
  • After all belongings are removed, go to their area’s designated key return location, and either check out with staff at the hall office or complete a drop-off key envelope and drop keys in the key bin (after hours). Failure to return keys will result in a lock change being billed.

Students will receive an email from their area's Hall Director(s) regarding the specific hours and location for completing the check-out process. Formal check-out hours will begin on Saturday, December 12, 2026. If you are leaving campus before December 12th and are fully checking out of your room, they should return keys to our Campus Housing Main office in Whitney Hall.

Residents Moving Out of Current Housing Assignments

Students leaving campus prior to Saturday, May 2, 2026 should return keys to the  Keys and Card Access | Campus Housing | University of Connecticut.

Students approved for a late departure should return their keys to the Keys and Card Access | Campus Housing | University of Connecticut.   Students who are transitioning to Summer Housing should return their keys to the Summer Housing Desk located in Connecticut when picking up their summer housing keys.
